Some of you have asked so I thought I would share what is going on with Jacki. Tomorrow morning she will be having surgery to correct a rare syndrome known as Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome (PAES). The article below is a pretty good representation of what is happening. Essentially the blood flow is being stopped below her knee every time she points her toes (think running, double unders, box jumps, wall balls, anything leg related really...) causing numbness and loss of feeling all together. It can also do serious arterial damage and possibly lead to amputation. There are nerves there that go all over the place as well, so those get messed with. Anyhow, this has been going on since we had running month, last February. That really set it off. Since then, it has progressively gotten worse, from just hurting during wods, to hurting a few hours after wods, to currently where it just hurts every waking minute of every hour of every day. Tomorrow is hopefully a new beginning. I know shed appreciate any positive vibes you can send her way. my.clevelandclinic.org/services/heart/disorders/popliteal-artery-entrapment-syndrome-paes
