Some of you know, but our son Stephen is named after Mary Motley s angel Stephen Motley. Stephen Lennard Motley, affectionately known by his peers as Mot, was born June 17, 1986 and passed away, June 14, 2005, but his memory continues to live on through his family and friends. Mot was the son of his beloved mother, Mary Motley, and brother to the dynamic duo of Allston and Myles, whom he constantly bragged on. Steve came to Sewanee by way of Anniston, Ala. He was a prized graduate of SAKS High School where he was an outstanding student and decorated athlete, both he continued to excel in once he arrived on Sewanees campus. For those of you who knew Mot, you know he had an enormous heart, a kind and lively spirit and the most captivating soul youd ever encounter. For those of you who read this and never had the pleasure to meet him, my words wont do Mot justice. There are many adjectives to describe his personality and hundreds of stories his family and friends would gladly tell you about him. His energy was infectious and he never left the room how he found it; he would have you in stitches from laughter for hours.We all miss Steve and his memory will forever live through his legacy. We invite you all to participate and contribute to the extension of his legacy by donating to his memorial on The Domain in Sewanee. In addition to his memorial, this year will see the first, Stephen Motley Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament is set to be held Saturday, May 17, the weekend following Mothers Day and Sewanees Commencement ceremonies. The tournament will be held at Sewanees newly renovated golf course. All funds raised will be dedicated to Mots Memorial, the Stephen Motley Memorial Golf Tournament and a scholarship fund designated for his younger brothers. We would like you all to attend Steves memorial dedication and tournament to fellowship with his family and friends, but if not, we hope you can aid this cause with your donations, prayers and support.
