Some of you may be curious about Janette’s status now that I have moved to Santa Fe, NM. My continued great satisfaction and confidence with JK House of Grace, the long term care residence where Janette has been for three years, was a major reason I felt I could consider moving. I think JK House of Grace is a perfect match for Janette’s needs, and I am very loath to move her. If Janette had any awareness of my presence, that would be a different matter, but I do not think that is the case. I will, of course, be returning for visits to see her and review Janette’s care, and both our children will visit her from time to time. (Since when I left I gave my car to Bill, that should make it easier from him to visit from Baltimore.) I was also very, very pleased that one of Janette’s dear friends, Sally, who lives close by, also has offered to visit Janette often to check on her status. I was very heartened to receive an email from Sally that she and another of Janette’s close friends, Linda (a former nurse who now spends much of her time in Colorado and is only back in Maryland occasionally), had visited Janette. Sally wrote: “What a great visit. Janette was at peace. The first comment that Linda made when she saw her was, ‘I had forgotten how pretty you are!’ She raved about Janettes skin tone and fleshed out appearance. Linda said that it was evident that Janette was getting very good care and complimented all the women [the JK staff] present for providing it. The women, in turn, asked us more questions about Janettes background - how long had we all been friends, how did we meet, what did Janette do before and so on. One of the things that Linda told them was that Janette used to be a very good ice skater. The staff was impressed and commented that Janette was slim and had a good figure and now they better understood why. Sweet, yes?” Yes, it was sweet, and it makes me feel more confident of my decision.
