Some of you may be interested to know that I opted for a new pair of travel headphones recently. I have had the pleasure of using the absolutely fantastic Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros for the past year and a half. Astounding headphones, even for portable player use, with the updated and more powerful pre-amps in the iPhone 5S. Its much easier to get the desired amplitude now with this iPhone VS the previous 4S incarnation. Whilst these headphones are some of my favourites, I have developed some gripes with them over time, due to no fault of the manufacturer*. Firstly, Ill state they look as good as when I bought them!! Super tough headphones. My gripes though, are that of the bulk, not necessarily for studio work (intended use) but for travel, they dont quite cut it. But its my fault for thinking they would! Secondly, the cable is ridiculously long. I got the coiled cable, and often have people looking at me funny. But no change there then, really. Being 250OHm versions of the DT 770 Pros, they arent the loudest, but much better as stated with iPhone 5S. And it is very likely I will sell the Beyerdynamics to account for these, however I do have another pair which are worth just as much I could flog as they never get used! (Good thinking BatMan!) Finally, I bought the Bose QC (Quiet Comfort) 15s, as I have heard their sound and unbeatable noise cancellation a number of times since my Germany shoot, and they are truly impeccable.
