Some of you may have heard this but probably not you know youre guys: My dad had a gas and oil bulk plant just over the tracks on hwy. 7. You might remember the big tanks right by the railroad. The Co-Op was across the tracks back then. He walked every day to the bank up on main street. Bob McCoy and Ozzie Nelson had their Everybodys Furniture downtown at that time. Hed walk thru their store very day. One day he saw they were running a sale on lamps, a nickel down and a nickel a day. Assuming people would pay nickel down and $1.50 per month. Back in those days guys were always looking for a little fun. So dad put his nickel down and asked for a receipt. Then everyday hed come in and put his nickel down and ask for a receipt. Im sure he was enjoying this until one day he got back late and missed coming in. The next day he got a repo letter from another one of their old cronies, Charlie Gardner, a local attorney!
