Some of you may not be aware of the circumstances surrounding Bob - TopicsExpress

Some of you may not be aware of the circumstances surrounding Bob Steinbergs death, so I will summarize. Yesterday, Bob had posted, complaining of heartburn and saying it may have been from the pizza he had eaten. Some people replied with various remedies for heartburn; others advised him to seek medical attention should it not improve. Later on, and this part is what I can piece together from posts I have seen, he pulled into a rest area and called 9-1-1 himself (I presume because he was feeling worse, not better); when emergency personnel arrived, he coded and could not be revived. It is believed that he had a myocardial infarction (aka heart attack), and there will be an autopsy. Bob Steinbergs sudden death is a harsh reminder, but one we MUST heed. You know your body, better than anybody else. You know how things should be. If anything - ANYTHING - doesnt feel right, do NOT ignore it. A seemingly minor issue could actually be a symptom of a much more serious problem. There are numerous symptoms of a heart attack; and it is especially important to note here that women can experience different symptoms than men do. Heartburn is just one of the symptoms, and sadly we will never know if Bob was experiencing any other symptoms. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY. Symptoms, like heartburn or pain, are the bodys way of alerting you that something isnt right and that you need to address it. One thing you can do right now is invest in a bottle of baby aspirin; speak to your primary care provider about what dose you should take and when. And, God forbid, if you ever get to the point where you feel you need to take it, CALL FOR HELP. Also get regular check ups, and alert your PCP to any little change you have observed from one visit to the next. Seek additional care if you have any changes that are sudden or significant. You have one life - dont put it at risk by denying that something might be wrong. RIP Bob, you were a wealth of information for many, and a caring, selfless person who would have given the shirt off your back if another person needed it. Let me tell you a short story. Back in January I was the victim of fraud, thanks to the Target data breach. Only $300 was taken, but it was all we had with which to buy groceries. Some good friends ran food over to us, and another loaned us some money to get us through the following two weeks. Bob, who I had not spoken to except on FB threads, sent me a PM and offered to loan me money. His exact words were I dont always have it and my situation changes day to day, but this weekend I have it if you need. Thats the kind of man he was, one who didnt think twice before offering assistance. He may have needed that money a week or two later, but it never crossed his mind to NOT offer to help based on that. We could use a lot more people like Bob. (And no, I did not take his money, because it had already gotten more than enough from other friends to get us through.). He made a difference in many lives, and I hope he knew that. He will be missed.
