Some of you may not know this place,83 Mundesley Road, it stands end on to the road so is not really seen. We bought it 2010 and gutted/rebuilt it. Thanks to Mr Ling he told us of its history. It was built in 1891 as the Telephone relay station for the under sea cable to Germany/Holland etc.At the start of the First World War local Scouts were used to dig up the cable at Bacton and chop a bit out so no one could comunicate with the enemy. Whilst digging for foundations we found a kiln for the making of insulators and small metal works.The house next door was built at the same time and was used by the Manager as his home.
