Some of you may not remember, but a few years ago Toshiba were making laptops that could detect if they were dropped and would move the heads of the HDD away from the physical disk before impact to preserve data. This was shown with a pop up notification. It also happened when the laptop was knocked or bumped. My company procured a number of these devices, and over the years as they reached end of life, they came back to IT to be disposed of. One day we got 20 back at once. We had them all in a line on a work bench. Turned on and logged in. I dropped a folder to the left of the line of laptops and the 2 laptops to the left popped up with this HDD notification. Suddenly my colleagues and i knew what we had created. A Laptop test your strength-o-meter! We all took turns thumping the left of the bench trying to get the pop ups all the way to the 20th laptop on the right. We got up to 18 before laptop number ones HDD starting clicking! We thought it best at this time to cease and desist.
