Some of you will remember that I had the honour of listening to and meeting Jonathan Sandys, Great Grandson of my hero, Sir Winston Churchill. A man whom I have read about, done a presentation on whilst at college and stand-by so many of his values and principles. My absolutely most favourite quote in the world... You have enemies? Good. That means youve stood up for something, sometime in your life. Sir. Winston Churchill. Jonathon has recently started a blog - Never Surrender and delivered direct to my inbox was his latest article.... Sir Winston Churchill: My Great-Grandfather. My Hero! These days it is not often I take time out for myself, but learning about someone whom I greatly admire and respect, from a man I have met and his passion, knowledge and drive I equally admire and respect is something that no matter what I will absolutely stop and take half an hour out of my day to sit back and be EDUCATED. No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, silly ones and ones that can have a big impact, I know there are a lot of people who dislike Sir Winston Churchill, but then again he was a politician - so does that not go without saying lol - but I honestly believe from the research I had done that THIS MAN - LED GREAT BRITAIN through a very long, horrific war. One of which men and women of today, I do not think could endure as they people, military and civilian had to do then. it was a different world, different way of thinking, different everything. Although I wasnt born at that time, I grew up around people that had, I served in the British Army and listened to the old boys tell their stories, it is hard to imagine what they went through, with so little, yet in true British form they kept their peckers up. I of course do not wish I did live through that, but I do miss the spirit, the mindset and the way the people were back when I was a small child in the 1970s. I am who I am for growing up in the environment I did, taking in things that interested me, and choosing my own heros to respect, admire and be educated by. I wish there was men like Sir. Winston Churchill in power today, because I do not believe the world would be in the mess it is in. However, I am not going to make a cup of coffee, grab a bar of cadburys chocolate - of course, only the kind MADE in ENGLAND and I am going to take 30 minutes to enjoy reading Jonathons article. Today is the day, 50 years ago, that sadly Sir Winston Churchill left this earth. I am about to learn about that time! This is the link to the blog if anyone is interested: churchillbulletin/
