Some people are finding it hard to get onto the Juniors email group: so I have posted the info email here. We are still thinking about how to best send out info. Please be assured that no confidential / sensitive info will go online. Start time change for some sessions Swimming will be at 4.30-5.30pm on Sundays except on the 9th November and the 7th December when it will be 5.30-6.30pm (due to swimming galas in the pool until 5pm). More details nearer the time. Mountainbike Session 2 hour coached session of mountain biking at Port Edgar on Saturday 22nd November from 1.30-3.30pm. Bikes and 2 mtb instructors included. £10 a head (£5 for those on free school meals) for Junior members of Pentland Triathletes, which can be paid on the day. All members who wish to come must email nialldarroch (at) hotmail (dot) com The FB event is on this page, but the thing that books your childs place is the email to me. Target Races Racing is an important part of triathlon; it gives us something to aim for, is a way of measuring progress and is fun! There are races designed especially for kids, with distances tailored to suit their age and stage. Triathlon has very few barriers when it comes to taking part in competitions; you can enter them yourself, you dont need to be selected for a team or even be a member of a club or governing body. However, this can mean that people feel a bit abandoned and lacking in structure if they want to race, especially if they are new to the sport. Therefore, we will be targeting certain races through the coming year. This will hopefully mean that when your child turns up to a race, some of their pals will be there as well, making it a bit more sociable and less intimidating. We will also ensure that there will be a person at each race who is there to support our members - for someone who is new, the process of getting registered, setting up transition, warming up etc can seem a bit overwhelming. The support person is there to help people have as satisfying race experience as possible. The list of target races for the 2015 season will be released within the next few weeks, but we know the first one already: the New Years day Kids Duathlon. This comprises of a short run, 2km cycle and another run, and is for those aged 8 - 15yrs. Its an inclusive race, so well within the abilities of every junior member we have and suitable for every road worthy bike. Start time is 11am at the Commonwealth Pool, so a very local race and a great start to 2015. A Junior Duathlon (admittedly not in Edinburgh!) looks like this: https://youtube/watch?v=D_SmSW0XUR8 Watch this space for more info on how to enter. Best regards, Niall
