Some people criticize the historical context of Thanksgiving. The Pilgrims, etc. I admit there is some question there. However I adhere to the sentiment of taking a moment to be appreciative of what you have. That does not have to be an annual thing. I think we should stop once in a while and be appreciative of our fortunes, even without a holiday. Besides, rituals and traditions are valuable. They can also evolve over time. You cannot change the past, you can only make a better present and future. And if you do not appreciate what you have, fine. Give it away to someone that will appreciate it.
