Some people have asked me about how I make wings by soldering, so I thought Id share a few photos. Im working on a commission for Marzipan Cosplay. These pics show how I set the wire up. After its bent the way I need it to be, I take super thin floral wire and wrap it around the larger wire, to help hold it together. Then it gets clamped for more security, and its pretty much set up and ready for soldering. The soldering process involves brushing on a substance called Flux on to where I intend to solder. Flux helps the solder take to the wire, without flux, melted solder will just roll off of the wire. So you apply flux, heat it up with the butane torch and apply the solder while keeping the flame on the area. If its hot enough, the solder will melt nice and neatly into the joint. And you just repeat until youve attached all of your pieces! Well call this FYI Friday! ;) #playingwithfire #wingcommissions #muchfiresuchwow
