Some people have asked me why being a member of Sweet Adelines is such a big part of my life. Well this week I got yet another confirmation (not that I needed it) that being a part of a SAI chorus or quartet is not just being a part of a singing group. Its being part of a sisterhood. As some of you may know, I had my right knee replaced back in May and things have not gone well since then. I have had setback after setback, the latest being the discovery this week of a crack in the femur of my right leg that is preventing me from putting any weight on that leg. Im sure that you all can imagine how frustrating and discouraging this has been since its caused me to miss rehearsals and coaching session in a year when Upper Chesapeake Chorus is preparing to compete at Internationals in November, not to mention just generally disrupting my whole life. However, my UCC sisters (as they always do) have rallied to my side, providing emotional support and encouragement to keep my spirits up, a wheelchair to help get me around, offers to transport me to rehearsals and coaching when my condition allows it and offers for small groups to come to my home so that I can keep up with preparation for Internationals. Likewise, the members of Revolution, my quartet, have also bent over backwards to help me during this period, trucking all they way up from their homes in Virginia and Frederick to my house in Harford County Maryland just so we can rehearse. You cant put a price on that kind of love and support and I wanted to take this opportunity to public thank all of my SAI sisters for all they have done and have offered to do for me. You are the greatest!
