Some people measure greatness by the notoriety of people they - TopicsExpress

Some people measure greatness by the notoriety of people they meet. The celebrity flesh they press. I dont. I look up and see long shadows cast across my miniscule existence. Not from towering skyscrapers or a modern marvel of man, rather the long shadows cast by true greatness of mankind. ...The greatness of friends. The things they do, the selflessness, the compassion, the humility of the life they live. Last week Cabarrus Ems surrendered one such spirit....and today I feel another being challenged and called to something greater. My best friend of 60+ years, James Allen Hopkins, Jim, JA, Hoppy, is progressing on that path. And I realize by his example, by the outpouring of love from lives he touched, by his selfless acts of kindness, there is much for me to do. Much still to learn and ACT on. Donna turned a phrase last night...she told somebody, We have laughed until we cried. And we have cried until we couldnt anymore, Telling stories about Hoppy. Look no further than your friends for inspiration and greatness....and if you cant find it in them, you need better friends. For inasmuch as ye have done this unto the least of these my bretheren, ye have done it also unto me. I think he lived this. I wonder how many times people have been in the presence of the spirit of their Christ when they witnessed or were the recipients of one of Hoppys random acts of kindness. I love you my brother of a different mother.
