Some people say that others cause their emotions. They push my buttons! etc... This is simply NOT true. The actions of others may implant thoughts in your head and that is what is causing your emotions ONLY if you actually believe them to be true. If you do not let anyone implant negative thoughts in your mind then they will have no way of making you feel badly. Catch yourself the next time you feel off and determine your emotion, what belief are you holding on to at that moment that is causing this emotion? How can you change that believe slightly? Perhaps by going to a more realistic belief or gentler way of thinking something etc... You know you are on the right track when you start to feel the shift in your mood. This shift may not stay with you pertinently but it is PROOF that you CAN shift your thinking and thus your emotions/mood. Gently shift your thinking if you slide back to your old thinking ways. Eventually you will start to stay in that better place for longer periods of time AND you will see that the strength of that negative emotion is also not as great! Reciting regular Affirmations, Gratitude Statements and Counter Pointing exercises help you look at the Optimistic side of all situations as a default and it helps retrain your brain!
