Some people think our patients are down on their luck and out of work, but the vast majority of our patients are hard-working, dedicated employees. You have to make over $14 an hour to not qualify for the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic, and very few businesses in Bandera County can afford to pay their employees that well. Our patients are your waiters and waitresses, your small business owner and employees, the ranch hand and his family, the cleaning staff at local hotels and B&Bs, the lawn care worker, the grocery store clerk, your kids babysitter, your neighbors cleaning lady, the nursing home aid and hospice caregiver...the list goes on and on. So when you help support the clinic, you are enabling our patients to stay healthy so they can continue supporting their families, paying taxes, and being productive workers. And for our patients who are unemployed, it is hard to work when you are seriously ill with diabetes or other chronic diseases.
