Some quick handheld night shots with the Sony A7S. Because these were handheld, I was limited to a higher shutter than normal for night time photography. When I get my tripods back (they are being borrowed at the moment) I will set my shutter lower to see how clean we can get these high ISO shots. In the mean time, the low light on this camera is awesome, its no secret by now but I HAD TO SEE IT FIRST HAND MYSELF! These are absolutely jaw dropping. The first image is what my eyes saw and what my old T2i/T3i at F1.4 would have been able to see as well (with max usable ISO 1250). The middle shot is a more proper exposure using ISO 80,000 (!) and the last shot is just a ridiculous attempt to push the camera to its limits. The JPEG becomes too noisy at ISO 409,600 because there isnt much light to work with. Interestingly with enough ambient light, ISO 409,600 can be somewhat usable. More tests to come. #A7S #LOWLIGHT
