Some quick hits from tonights game: • Connecticut guard Katie Douglas led the team in scoring with a season-high of 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 12 points in the fourth quarter. The 10 field goals were also a career-high. This was the 12th time this year she has reached double-digit points. • Kelsey Bone finished with her first double-double of the season. The center collected 16 points and a career-high of 14 rebounds. • Chiney Ogwumike was held to a season-low six points, ending a streak of 15 consecutive games in double-figures for the rookie. That tied Nykesha Sales and Taj McWilliams-Franklin for the fifth longest streak in Sun history. Tina Charles (23 games from 8/13/11-6/19/12) holds the record. • In an odd statistical anomaly, Douglas was the only Sun player to attempt a free throw in the game. Douglas went 4-for-7 from the line. • The San Antonio backcourt of Becky Hammon (5 of 5) and Danielle Robinson (2-2) were perfect from the field in the third quarter, when the Stars took over the game while outscoring Connecticut 28-15. They combined for 16 points. • Connecticut held San Antonio scoreless for the first 3:42 of the game. The Stars committed two turnovers and went 0-for-4 to start the game. • Connecticut dominated the paint in the first quarter, scoring all 20 of their points inside. The Sun outscored the Stars 20-8 in the first quarter and 24-12 at the half. • The Suns’ first bucket outside the paint came at 3:52 in the second quarter with a made jumper by Alex Bentley. • Connecticut never trailed in the first half, leading 30-27, despite recording season lows with just one made free throw, 2 free throws attempted and one made 3-point field goal. • The Sun recorded a season high of 41 field goal attempts in the first half. • Alex Bentley marked a season high of four steals and finished with 10 points. This is the fourth consecutive game the guard has finished with 10+ points.
