Some remarks I made tonight at a party fundraiser: Collin - TopicsExpress

Some remarks I made tonight at a party fundraiser: Collin County isnt a red county, its a non voting county. Democrats are not winning election in Collin County only because the majority of Democrats dont vote. We know Collin County is one of the fastest growing counties in Texas, and the U.S. This county is the sixth most populous county in Texas with a registered voter count approaching half a million people. We know our population growth is driven by people moving to Collin County from blue states, like California and New York. Over the last year and a half, every time Mike and I made first contact with Democrats new to Collin County, they said the same thing. I thought I was the only Democrat in Collin County. Then they say, I dont bother to vote because this county is so Republican my vote doesnt count. We can read in the voter analytics that more than four out of every seven voting age persons in Collin County didnt vote in the 2012 presidential election. More than five of every seven potential voter didnt vote in the 2010 mid-term election. The data tells us most citizens who dont vote would likely vote for Democratic candidates, if they did vote. It is the mindset of Democrats that they are out numbered by Republicans, that keeps them from turning out to vote. The reality is -- when Democrats believe their vote does count - their collective votes will elect Democrats to national, state, and local office. When Collin County Democrats believe they are the many -- rather than the few -- we will have a county and a state run by elected Democrats.
