Some sad news: Tim Hauser, a founding member of Manhattan - TopicsExpress

Some sad news: Tim Hauser, a founding member of Manhattan Transfer, passed away yesterday. He was 72. Back in the Seventies, you could find any group for any musical taste - Manhattan Transfer were built on vocal talents and singing as a unit. They specialized in jazz, and excelled there. They first performed at Maxs Kansas City and Reno Sweeney, where I first saw them, along with a wonderfully bawdy Bette Midler. There are many songs I could include here, but most come from the second formation of the group after Laurel Masse was seriously injured in a car accident, and replaced by Cheryl Bentyne. It would be with her inclusion that the groups sound expanded and modernized. In fact, the first quartet - Tim, Alan Paul, Laurel Masse and Janis Siegel - were huge hits in England and Europe way before they made it here. Anyway, here a sampling from 1979. May Tim rest in peace, easy in the knowledge he gave great pleasure to a great many people https://youtube/watch?v=0jmUdpcq07k
