Some sad news for HomeSource Family Charter students, staff, and parents. As I was elected to the board, I was privvy to one final bit of information. HomeSource will be permanently closed. Glenda Downing, our board president, had this to say: "[W]e have received our report from the State. There are insurmountable obstacles that require much more than we can accomplish. We are planning on letting the State know that we are no longer going ahead with the proposal." I wish I had specifics, but I am also not technically part of the board, due to some governing HFC Bylaws getting in the way. I am NOT deterred, however. We are looking at an alternative resource site as we speak. I am not going to let our substandard and broken public school system dictate how my children learn.
