Some sad news here...... Reigate Miss Millie was served by Summerlee Figaro last year - now Millie has a history of falling pregnant, then slipping at about 4 months or so - and has been impossible to get to retain a pregnancy.... So, the lovely Karen came to see Millie, loved her to bits, was after a lovely riding horse etc and came and collected her a few weeks later when we were sure she was empty..... Turns out she was in foal and was just tricking everyone.... and that the foal was much bigger than anticipated so had caught and managed to retain the foal.... Foal due around Christmas! There was the moment of disbelief and then the ohhh yes well that would be just fabulous!!..... Karen, Myself and the wonderful vets at Rosehill Farm Veterinary Practice didnt hold out huge hopes that she would carry to term - but lived in our own little ideal world thinking that just maybe she was going to defy the odds..... A couple of days ago, Karen let me know that she had taken Mills in to the vet as labor had started (after having issues for the previous fortnight).... Long story short - despite being in the best hands possible, Millie went into labor that was very lucky to have human intervention for, and the foal was already deceased...... Scarily, as the foal was stuck - Millie had to be knocked out and bubs removed in bits... :( She has also rejected any ideas that folk may have had about putting her with an orphan foal today..... Thankfully - with antibiotics, a good flush out, and the wonderful team of vets and the care given by them and Karen - Millie is going to be ok... The foal was a colt - and would have been 75% CB, 12.5% WB and 12.5% TB. A very sad loss......
