Some say lightning never strikes twice, but does it? All we know - TopicsExpress

Some say lightning never strikes twice, but does it? All we know is they are Mother Nature.. Two for the price of one? This week M&S’s finest goods were brought down from the top shelves. That’s right - Nicola Lloyd and her mother Carys Bowen ran two memorable runs. Nicola Lloyd has completed an amazing 200 runs today, her mother Carys completed an amazing 100 runs today. As the French would say, that’s Fabriqe Belgqie! Yes you might have guessed that is one of Del Boy’s (from Only Fools and Horses) classic French phrases, we may hear some more later on. Waitrose every day value goods was also selected today from the middle shelf as Richard Hall finished 3rd in his age category (45-49) his time was 21:04. Shame really, he could have made first after he showed me some fantastic results of his, but that’s another story. Who has watched the commonwealth games? Well I admit as much as I love running, I have not found time to watch many of the races, but one of our parkrun stars who help’s bring you parkrun every week, Janine has travelled to Scotland to watch the games. So if you were wondering where she was, and then wonder no more, she also took part in Parkrun Edinburgh, so if you’re ever in Scotland then you might consider running there! Out of action!! Two of our regular runners who we see most weeks or rather 99% of the time at Bramhall are out of action due to injuries. Unfortunately Steve Hughes and Janine Ortan, (Janine won the points competition last year) (Steve who we see at the finish funnel) have both had injuries for some weeks now, and we hope to see them back at Bramhall running again soon, Steve is known famously for his backwards run. Park status: Muddy at the ponds, dry on the archery field and in the back woods. Dry on start/ finish hill, slippy on both bridges. Wildlife status: Baby ducks, check, woodpecker, not seen for a few weeks, heron check, wilder beast check, birds check. Barry Archbold, Wilmslow RC (VM40-44) 1st male over the line in 17:54 5th time running a parkrun, one word for that, well two. Absolutely incredible!! Sarah Seymour Smith (Unattached) (SW30-34) was first women over the line in 19:48, even better she has made only three appearances at parkrun. Again Absolutely incredible. As you may remember from my previous race reports, they were mainly based on stats, so this week, I am going to carry on, and hopefully not, as the common youth would say bore you Strained Relations: Becky Styles, lover of Costa Coffee, cake, and parkrun, was not seen at Bramhall as usual, she went to our friendly rival parkrun Burnage or as Mr Cordes would say Burnaarge (emphasie on the nage bit and you should have cracked the way to say it). Now I don’t want to go off topic, but as a bit of humour, after what I thought to be a dull and grey humid morning, dull in sky colour, not as in dull atmosphere. I was talking to Mr Fairclough the other week, and I made him crack up. (We were talking about his food bank race route he created), he came up to me and said to me “Oh I hate that route, it tires me out every time we do that race.” So I replied to him saying “Well you created the route didn’t you?” “Well yes, yes I did.” This time I replied saying “Well you’ve only got yourself to blame then!!” I walked off and Richard Hall put his arm on his back when I looked around. Probably one of those scenes from a comedy like Only Fools and Horses. Back to Bramhall, I have to say it’s been a week of joy for many, Nicola Lloyd completing her 200th run and her mother Carys Bowen completing her 100th. A few others completed their 50th runs today, so well done to all who completed 50 runs today!! Now I hate ending these results, you’ll probably be thinking, oh get over it, it is a run report, so I hope before I return to school in September I can bring you say a summer special, or just another ordinary run report. Before we end, I must mention I won the golden boot as I betted on 355 runners running and there were 353 in total!! So I think it’s safe to say there were two strikes of lightning today, Nicola and Carys, and let’s hope the famous lightning Usain Bolt will win tonight in his 4x100m relay, you know it makes sense!! So until the next run report I bring you, Bonjour!! Matt Cordes Junior Please note, there are two local races next week: Pie and Peas race at 7:00pm on Wednesday 6th August 2014, see Bramhall Runners website and race series for details. There is the Food Bank 5.5km race at Happy Valley at 7:15pm on Thursday 7th August 2014, see Bramhall Runners website and race series for details.
