Some strong to severe storms are possilbe ahead of an approaching cold front Wednesday afternnon and evening across northern Alabama. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed much of the area under a slight risk for Wednesday, though this does not look like a widespread severe weahter/tornado event at this time. The main window for severe storms is Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night. Main Threats: Large Hail and Damaging Winds. The NWS cannot rule out a brief tornado or two, but the chance looks low at this time. Locally heavy rain is also a possibility (1-2 inches of rain). Please remain weather aware as this approaching front continues to develop. If you have outside activities planned for Wednesday Afternoon you may want to look at rescheduling those events. Lightning will accompany these storms.
