Some things have deep meaning for people, but are of no value. Julee was asked to make a custom bracelet from some heirloom cufflinks as a surprise Christmas gift for a mans wife. This proved to be a little challenging because along with the no value, people dont want to put a lot of money into a custom job. The jade was not real and the metal was unknown, but not gold. She asked the customer if they had a small diamond to add to the bracelet. At first, the idea was to make a bangle because of the large size of the stones, this proved to be quite expensive $2000-4000 to add all that gold. It also proved to be almost impossible, because the stones could not be removed from the metal. The last hope was to heat them, but the risk of breakage was too great to try. So, Julee decided to keep them in their metal mounting, since there was a slight border, and add 14K gold rings and chain. By setting the chain toward the top and bottom of the links, it helped to stabilize them. A 14K gold plate with the customers diamond was attached to the links and it was beautiful and affordably perfect! Looks simple when its done, but actually was a challenge, especially with a short deadline!
