Some thoughts (and facts)... If public schools are accountable, - TopicsExpress

Some thoughts (and facts)... If public schools are accountable, then charter schools (using public funds) need to be accountable too. These schools can hire ANYBODY - even without a background check. Quality education is not necessarily one you pay for - since the personnel staffing private and charter schools do not have to have credentials (or even degrees) that public educators must have. Continuing ed is not a requirement in charter or private schools and, of course, they have no accountability as far as educational expectations go. Why would NC phase out Teaching Fellows in favor of TFA? (the answer is corporate money) Overcrowded classrooms, no raises, and raise the cost of college tuition - we are ensuring that NC will stay at the bottom economically (again - corporate money). Virtual charter schools (corporate money). No tenure - lower cost for inexperience and a disregard for experience.
