Some thoughts from this evening: Many believers find themselves - TopicsExpress

Some thoughts from this evening: Many believers find themselves stuck. What I mean is that a part of them feels they arent growing or seem to be learning in circles. I want to share a little secret I discovered several years ago that kickstarted a massive growth spurt that hasnt slowed down. Here it is. Adjust your internal attitude to be teachable. Sound simple? Let me break it down for you. I was a know-it-all with an attitude. I was more worried about proving my doctrine than I was connecting with you or honoring you for what youve learned/studied. That changed when I was confronted with a simple concept. I was wrong in my doctrine. I knew initially it was one topic but had that sneaky suspicion that was just the tip of the iceberg. This was the start to my spurt. My heart came to a place of honest teachability before Papa. I genuinely desired to be corrected and know the truth even if, or more accurately despite the fact, that I was wrong on things. From there Ive unlearned and learned many things. Whats the point? Not a single believer sucking air is 100% correct in their doctrine. A prideful attitude blocks off our receiving revelation and teaching from God not because He desires it but because we refuse it. Ive learned to maintain confidence in topics that Ive thoroughly studied in an unbiased manner while remaining open to correction through proper Scriptural teaching. I do not accept opinions or traditions as such. I say that to say that confidence in things is ok and healthy but must be tempered with a teachable demeanor. Ive found so many that are like wood when it comes to other views. Theyd rather snap in two than consider they are wrong in an area. This is one of if not the greatest hindrance to learning Ive found. I have many more thoughts on this but Ill stop here for tonight.
