Some time ago before I knew about personal development and self help audiobooks/books, I would say my thoughts were easily 80-90% negative with rare positivity. Now you may say that’s a lot, but what we don’t realize is what actually counts as a negative thought. Negative thoughts don’t just come in the form of “I can’t do this” or “I’ll never make enough money, but also in the form of “I’m still here because …” or “If it wasn’t for XYZ I’d be rich by now”. In other words, rather than giving attention to what I wanted to see happen, I gave attention to that which already was. Now that I live on my own without any negative influences, being immersed in positive thoughts has become so dominant within my being that negativity makes me sick. And yes, at times even physically. You see, the more you surround yourself with positive thoughts and feelings, it’s like you begin to elevate your spiritual vibrational atmosphere. Metaphorically speaking: If low vibrations were the ground, higher vibrations would be up in the sky where the atmospheric pressure decreases the higher up you go. When a negative thought encompasses within your mind at a “higher altitude”, it begins to bring you down near the ground where pressure is higher. Now you can imagine, more pressure added to a being who has been dwelling in a low pressure atmosphere (higher up) for so long will become VERY uncomfortable. It WILL be noticeable, you WILL not like it, and you should do everything in your power to GET RID OF IT. This is why when you begin to attain success and your peers don’t, they no longer become your peers. Places you used to go will change, the way you speak and treat others will change, you will almost feel alienated for a while until you find your new vibrational family up in the sky. (i.e., like-minded individuals) Challenge: I challenge anyone willing to a 24hr monitoring of your thoughts. Anytime you think of a negative thought or anytime someone says something negative to you, write it down. Whenever a positive thought crosses your mind, write that down as well.
