Some very sad news today- my brother Norman died yesterday at the age of 74. Norman was the mechanical genius of the family- from fixing watches at age 6 to building go-karts, then hot rod cars, on to tv, helicopter repair, designing the mechanical drive and electrical systems of 4 river boats, including the Spirit of Peoria, and more. Recently his interests had turned to retail sales. He was a true Gitterdone kind of a guy, and could make anything work. He leaves behind his widow, Patty Rittenhouse of Fairbury, two daughters, Susan Hazlett of Bloomington and Sarah Rittenhouse of Oklahoma City. I havent seen any obituaries, but I am sure they will be in the Pontiac Leader and Bloomington Pantagragh. I hope to join the family for the services, but that is contingent on not coming down with the full blown H1N1 flu that my wife has. And this is just one more wake up call for all of us to mend fences and make those calls to loved ones.
