Somebody help me here. I have a bit of a brainteaser. Let’s just say, hypothetically, that you have a cat that is 12 years old that had not eaten for nearly 15 days. After being on I.V. and getting rehydrated by the vet, the cat begins to eat again. We’re talking very small doses. For the past 6 days, the cat started out eating ONLY beef baby food. Slowly over the course of the six days the cat added wet cat food into the mix. Again, very small doses, but he ate a little bit at each and every meal. The most important thing to know is that it was a controlled environment. The cat was in his own section of the home, and the only food available was the food presented at each meal. Every day the cat got stronger and ate a little bit more, but again, only baby food and wet cat food, no hard cat kibble. Today, for the first time, after breakfast, the cat and cat kibble were left out in an area where the cat had full access to the kibble. When dinner time came, the cat refused to eat his baby food. Here are the two options; 1. It’s possible, although unlikely, that the cat got hungry enough and may have consumed some of the kibble, which would explain why he refused his dinner. And we will have to wait to see what happens tomorrow morning, when it is a controlled situation again. 2. It is a fact that did not eat any of the kibble available to him, and 100% certain that he has begun his decline again. Please chime in and tell me your thoughts.
