Somebody please ask Gerald Ensley if he still thinks that Johnny Manziel is still the Heisman frontrunner. Quoting his opinion piece in the Tallahassee Democrat on November 15th: To be fair, returning Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel is the front-runner. It was his statue to lose, and he hasn’t. He has better stats than Winston against better competition, and Manziel remains one of the most exciting college football players ever. Despite his partying/autographing controversy last summer, Manziel’s only sin seems to be hubris. But until Wednesday, it would have been a close race between Winston and Manziel. Sadly, all of us have focused more on Winston than on the woman who may be a victim. It’s hard to believe that something did not happen to her by somebody. Her life has been changed forever. And that’s awful. We can all only hope that Gerald will write an apology piece when charges for submitting a false police report are filed this week. Nice rush to judgment on both the Heisman and Jameis Winstons innocence, Mr. Ensley.
