Somehow I missed seeing Otto Preminger’s “Laura” all these - TopicsExpress

Somehow I missed seeing Otto Preminger’s “Laura” all these years until now. It’s the sort of film I would normally have seen. The film noir flick was nominated for a number of Oscars, but had the poor luck of competing with “Going My Way”, which won just about everything in 1944. I fell in love with Gene Tierney (Laura Hunt), the murdered woman about whom this movie was made. Clifton Webb, one of my favorite actors was prominent in it. You may recall him as Mr. Belvedere in that film series. Prior to that he was known only as a stage actor, & with his “Laura” work became famous & went on to film stardom. The American Film Institute recognized it as one of the best films in a number of different categories including the #4 ranked all time mysteries. Many critics, including many from today 70 years after it was made continue to have it on their top ten lists of favorite movie of all genres. If you haven’t seen it, you should. The black & white movie takes you back to another time and space. Laura moves through your consciousness like a ghostly angel, somehow needing to tell her story before she can rest. At least that’s what we believe until… well, you’ll have to see it for yourself. https://youtube/watch?v=g2LxUKbejIs&hd=1
