Someone asked [Ibn Hafiz (Habib Umar)] about how to unite various parties of the muslims, and he said for example the Barelvis and the deobandis, as an example because the person asked about them specific, and he said that is an example of a schism between two parties of Muslims, and he said that they are Ahle Sunnah, however the difference of opinion amongst them the caprice or the false inclination of the lower-self, entered into that difference of opinion, so they magnified something that was small and increased expanded something that should have been small basically, blew things out of proportion when those questions did not need to be treated that way.... And perhaps in a state of fury and people are incited they may say things that are rejected by the sacred law and the other party take those sayings and circulate them.... So the dealings must be with gentleness and mercy that in or kindness and mercy that encompasses all without prejudice to this group or that group.... And whenever one of the detailed questions contradicts the apparent methodology or the apparent way that Ahle Sunnah is on, that should be ignored.... And that should not be made a place or an opportunity to debate and incite peoples egos or incite people.... And an opportunity when their is tranquility and the selves are not so stirred up should be those opportunities should be taken to clarify some questions in a state of calmness.... And he [Ibn Hafiz (Habib Umar)] said difference of opinions occur, however the sincere or truthful of the previous scholars, their speech was united.... So if the predecessors of these various groups are mentioned, that is a cause to draw near or to develop a familiarisation or relationship with those who are adhering to those rules, mentioning the speech of their predecessors to that group - as per translated to english by Abdul-Karim Yahya, of California USA, the statement of his murshid [shaykh] Ibn Hafiz (Habib Umar) of Tarim Yemen
