Someone asked me how to battle depression. I told them number one - TopicsExpress

Someone asked me how to battle depression. I told them number one start off your day with a short devotion and prayer to The Lord. There is nothing more important then starting your day off right with Jesus, who is a loving father. Number two, keep your mind occupied. What I mean is if you find yourself doing nothing for long periods of time, you tend to get depressed or that is what happens to me. So if its a day off I plan something fun with family and friends or read a good book on theology, etc. Just something to block off my mind from going blank I guess. Number three I would say is taking care of your self physically. I cleaned up my diet and started a exercise plan recently. It sounds easy but getting started is tough. I said for years I was going to start eating better and exercising. It was until a few months ago I really got serious about it and finally started to see a difference. Its a slow process and Im not where I want to be but with time I will be (with Gods strength of course). Lastly I would say is confess to a loved one and a church leader. Since Im a guy I told my father and a mens pastor from my church, and a close friend of mine about it. I also got counseling from a mens pastor to help with the process in the past. If you are a women reading this go tell another trusted friend and a woman leader in ministry in your church that can help you. If you are a man do what I did and go tell another man of God to help you with the process. Im not a doctor or pastor but I hope this can help some how. Confessing you have a problem with depression can be hard (especially of you are man) but once you do you are one step closer to freedom in The Lord. Amen
