Someone asked me once why James attended LIHSA and what he got - TopicsExpress

Someone asked me once why James attended LIHSA and what he got there that he didnt get in a regular school, so I unleashed. I said that while his education was outstanding, not everyone wants to be a businessman, or a doctor, or a lawyer, or an investment banker. I explained that few very special people have the ability to entertain and WANT to make that a career choice. I told them that I believed the arts (of ALL forms) have a place in schools and it has to start there otherwise who would know what they want to do? That is why drama clubs exist, music programs exist, and art clubs exist. Is it a risky profession? Yes, certainly. Isnt EVERYTHING risky? There are people who come out of school with masters degrees in business administration who never get a job. This economy is tough enough as it is. I told this person that I believe in him and that he has as good of a chance as anyone to succeed. It doesnt take a strong parent to support their childs dream, anyone can do that. It DOES however; take a strong parent to fight for what other parents think is a waste of a resource. I sent my son away to a performing arts college because *I* believe in him. Keeping the ARTS in schools is important to more people than you might think.
