Someone asked me the question the other day as to when I first became a PAID Model as his interpretation was that only true models were compensated monetarily. Well -- my first ever Paid Modeling Job was when I was seventeen years old! I worked as the First Ever Petite Model for a department store called Lord & Taylor and had a pretty grueling audition. I was definitely the shortest person to audition and get the job, but it was #great fun, I got to do runway work every Saturday and met some very cool people. I got tons of discounts on everything, had the run of the store as I also got to act as a personal shopper too (well, I kind of created that position for myself and ran with it -- #NONCONFORMISTFORLIFE) and typically would end up spending my entire salary on, you guessed it: CLOTHES. Only at that time I was able to buy my clothes from the Kids Dept! LOL -- Those were the days and I certainly saved money wearing a size 12 Kids/Teen and weighing 95 lbs. I have no idea how I found the time, as I was also in sports year-round and was a cheerleader for both football and basketball all the way thru college, so I was constantly on the move. I guess some things never change :)
