Someone asked me what I meant by a Wish Merger - this is something we are all bit unconscious of sometimes. A Wish Merger is an unconscious act to merge with the ideal (pedestal) of someone more powerful than ourselves to complete us or where we feel incomplete. The seduction of a “merger” is that someone tries to achieve his spiritual and life growth goals without doing the difficult work. But in reality this pattern blinds us to the flaws in our own character as we project unconscious perfection needs and expectations onto other people’s character and can lead to many destructive choices. When the Wish Merger fails...pain, blame and other idealistic demands and reactions ensue. There is nothing wrong with Wish Mergers as we all have them...But if we are not conscious of this we can turn relationships up-side-down when the ideal wish doesnt meet the real (humanity). Where do we go from there? Acceptance, fierce grace and love? You decide... Cheers, Joe
