Someone asked what the reaction of my peers was that day and I - TopicsExpress

Someone asked what the reaction of my peers was that day and I would respond that we viewed the event, based on the fact that all that we knew was that our commander in chief had been killed, was that it had most likely been done by a foreign agent as an act that was a presage to a greater conflict. It was our job to prepare for that conflict. That was what we were trained to do, officers and men. JFK had, in fact, reviewed our battalion the previous year so there was a personal connection. I dont know that it impacted any of us on a gut level until we realized what had really happened some days later.
