Someone cares ! While wandering in the French Quarter looking for something significant to do, I stumbled across Benjamin and his friendly mule in front of Jackson Square. Something said Just do it and next thing I know I am up in the carriage and we started off. I dont know what I was expecting but was certainly surprised to find the tour historically accurate and very entertaining. Benjamin was extremely friendly and was even dressed like a mule drover. Although I have laughed at the inaccuracies notated in the Vampire Tour and the Historical Walking Tour that I have taken, Benjamin put them all to shame. Having a very good grasp of New Orleans history, I am not easy to fool. There is something special about seeing a wonderful city steeped in mystery and great stories by carriage. It takes one back to another time and place, and if you close your eyes it is not difficult to imagine the Riverboats, hoop skirts or the firing of a cannon. The clip clop of your mules hooves just lends more flavor to the experience. I was having an exceptionally bad day, and this wonderful thirty minutes turned it all around. Thank you Benjamin and Royal Carriages for a great memory!
