Someone just asked me if Spotify it was fair, and I came up with a simple way of looking at it: iTunes gives us .70 per song. Spotify gives us .0006. So youd have to listen each song 1166 times for it to be fair. So, to see how often people actually listen to music, I am now sitting in front of my studio computer looking at the album we listen to every night as we cook dinner. (Gotan Project) The most listened to song on the album has been listen to 32 times. So even with that equation, where its are very most listened to song, in order to be fair Spotify would have to pay 36 times as much as they pay. Which would mean my last check from Spotify wouldnt have been $98, it would have been $3528. Which would have gone a long way towards paying the bills, and keeping the power on. Once upon a time, record labels were the evil bad guys stealing from the artist. Now its streaming sites. The same thing fights them: Buy directly from the artist.
