Someone mentioned that they were cutting down trees so that their satellite antenna would not be blocked. When I finally was able to understand the meaning of the statement, which seemed impossible, I was bewildered. I thought, do they rip out their brains so that incoming stimuli ‘will not be blocked’? Trees are organic ‘networking array members’. What they actually are and do is more than your entire language could ever convey. And it comes from them. Without them, you would not have words. Or minds. They not only receive, they modulate, filter, amplify and transform signals... they do so in ways absolutely crucial to the basis of human health and intelligence. Not just as a group. Every single person’s health and intelligence. Everyone. All the time. These signals they handle are not TV signals, like your machines. They are sapience signals. Sentience signals. You know, the signals -your intelligence is comprised of and which its ongoing development and renewal depends upon-? They don’t -only- produce oxygen; you get the cognitive and relational equivalents of nutrition ... from their distributed web of ‘active participatory biocognitive processing’. The forests of earth are an organic array of unthinkable biocognitive sophistication and function. They actually -generated the possibility of human intelligence as a side effect of their unimpeded profundity-. And they are largely gone, now. They are dying. And you are too, but you cannot detect this because the assets you would need to do that lie in the assets you obliterated with the forests. They cannot compete with machines and products in our modern human cultures because the complexity of their function demands subtleties we are now ill-equipped to suspect, let alone detect. The intelligence you suppose you possess is actually actively assembled moment-to-moment in and as your environment — or you can’ get any. It isn’t a possession; it’s a process. A living process that slowly nudged your minds from those of animals to sentience, and gave you the potential for biorelational superfunction. It didn’t work. You use assets to burn down their source, like a student who, terrified of the teacher who is the source of their own intelligence, murders her cruelly and sells the meat at market. This ‘proves she wasn’t actually intelligent’. Unlike us, when nature’s own hands (or mind) attack her, she cannot merely amputate them. But let me ask you this; why exactly would you render the living forests into dead terrain? Or allow this? They are older and more sophisticated than the sum of human technical achievements over your entire species’ lifespan. Are you so jealous of your teacher that you would assassinate her for football? For antennas? For soy farms? Charcoal at $5/ton? You might want to re-think your tree-replacement habits, because, you’re not replacing ‘trees’ as you understand them. Those ‘trees’ are organic elements in your -own mind’s extended body-; you’re replacing yourself... in more way than your accomplished replacements will allow you to detect or amend. And the problem gets worse every time it’s repeated. — a u i
