Someone might unfortunately get bit by a German Shepard dog at - TopicsExpress

Someone might unfortunately get bit by a German Shepard dog at some point in their life or see someone else get bit, and from then on be really shy and suspicious of ALL German Shepard dogs, or even all dogs in general. They may go on a campaign to warn everyone who will listen about the innate cruelty and ferocity of all dogs and how it is clearly much wiser and safer to just stay away from them altogether. But it could be that such a person may be missing out on a great and heart-opening relationship with a dog because of this negative conditioning against them. Or, if their arguments against relating to dogs is fairly convincing, they may talk someone else out of getting involved with a dog and may cause them to miss out on one of the most wondrous, innocent and ecstatic love affairs of a lifetime, for both themselves and the dog!! Someone with such a traumatic past experience certainly needs compassion and understanding and healing, but they would probably also do well at some point to simply acknowledge that it is their own memory and the holding on to a past trauma that is the real problem and not the innate ferocity of all dogs in general. If they just decide to simplistically write off all dogs and continue to see the worst in them all, they will most likely never heal their traumatic memory. That being said, it is probably good and sensible to be cautious around a dog one has just met. It probably makes sense to be observant and try to feel out the character and temperament of a dog before you go up and pet it on the forehead. A lot of this could apply and serve as a good analogy as well for someone who has had or has witnessed a painful and traumatic encounter with a spiritual teacher, guide or mentor in the past. Dont worry.....we dont ALL bite, I promise you! :)
