Someone privately contacted me to persuade me that Common Core math was better than what was previously taught. I told him that I am pleased he finds it so useful, and he should be free to teach it to his children while preserving choice for others. Thats where the conversation pretty much ended. I guess discourse and debate is not part of the Common Core curriculum. Public schools are little monopolies funded by property taxes. Families of ordinary means have no meaningful choice with regard to where and how their children are educated. Education should be privatized, and schools should compete for parents tuition dollars. Everyone should be free to choose what works best for them and their family. Standardization is the antithesis of variety and experimentation. #CommonCore #voluntarism
