Someone raised the issue that Chinese vernacular schools (VS) are becoming popular since many parents are "starting to realise" the rise of China. Hence, they claim parents are opting for Chinese schools. I raised the issue that the real reason that parents, especially Malay parents are opting for Chinese VS not because of the rise of China but because majority of the private sector in Malaysia is Chinese dominated and that knowing AT LEAST mandarin is absolutely crucial for employment purposes. When you say that, they call you racist. How are we going to develop if this continues?
