Someone told me the current president was doing a "great job". I responded thus: Whether a president, or any other elected official is doing a “great job” would be determined (by a rational person) on the basis of (1) whether (s)he operated within the law, (2) successfully fulfilled the performance obligations inherent with that office, (3) provided capable and inspiring leadership in times of crisis, (4) managed well the available resources to achieve the best possible outcome, and exercised proper restraint in matters both public and private. If the current president (or any other elected official) met that criteria, then yes, they are (would be) doing a “great job”. Then I asked this person to articulate specific examples of any of the foregoing. I was met with a blank stare.
