Someone truncated democracy on a day like this. He truncated Free Education and Free Health programme of the Awolowo UPN government. Secondary Schools established by the UPN government in Yorubaland were scrapped. I attended Fabunmi Memorial Grammar School, Okemesi Ekiti, one of the schools established by the Ajasin govt that the military dictator scrapped. He stopped the Lagos Metroline Project embarked upon by the Lateef Jakande government and went ahead to pay compensation to the French Company, handling the project. He turned us to Zombie and jailed many of us for criticising his government. No Facebook and Twitter then. Else, millions of Nigerians would have been jailed for posting negative comments against the almighty Head of State. Now that democracy is stable in Nigeria, he wants to benefit from the same democracy that he truncated 31 years ago! May Nigeria never witness his likes again. Happy New Year Nigerians.
