Someone would like me to comment on the Congressional Black Caucus - TopicsExpress

Someone would like me to comment on the Congressional Black Caucus which held a convention this past weekend with much fan far, preaching, keep hope alive messages, entertainment, and speeches by an array of people including Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. The CBC is the organization of all the African Americans in Congress so that they may speak out and put forth policy and legislation proposals as a united voice representing black people all across America. What can I say about them? Hmm. Do you recall the television show actor/comedian Martin Lawrence did for the FOX network a number of years ago? Remember the character whose only name was Brother Man (or Bruh Man)? He barely said much and always came in and left through the window instead of the front door. He was a symbolic character of course for the poor unemployed black man who is forced to try to make his way in life by crawling through peoples windows when they are not home and sometimes when they are, hopefully getting back out of the window before anyone wakes up. Another symbolic character on the show, with a weekly re-occurring role was Tommy who usually dressed nice and had money to spend and talked a lot about his job except that nobody knew where he worked. Even the woman he was in a relationship with had no idea where he worked or what he did for a living. Over time, his friends became convinced that he did not actually have a job, but still he always had money to spend, his own place, a car, and nice clothes. I can see the CBC in his symbolism because his symbolism is two fold - the person (any person) who has more money than their job pays, where is the other money coming from? and the black man or woman who gets a nice job but it is a job in which they have to do things against the black community in order to keep the job so that they dont even want to let their best friends know the work they are doing against the community. It is not so much as where do you work at, but the hidden symbolism in the Tommy character, who do you work for? With the Congressional Black Caucus supporting militarization of police departments that are steeped in corruption and racist kkk influence, you have to wonder, who are they working for and are you sure they even got jobs cause it does not seem like they are doing them.
