Something I had to write the other day~ I would like to share: The Living Word of God; our Holy Bible understands evangelical as our called and commissioned task individually from God to be a bold witness (disciple) who shares His Gospel through the gifts we are individually given (St. Paul, Ephesians 4:11-16). The task of the corporate church —The Body, is discipleship united by and through fellowship (Koinonia—community) and joined in a common mission (Kerygma—the hands & feet of the Body at work). Through the Holy Spirit we are then compelled by the Grace of God to empower, enlighten and encourage one another to be and become servant leaders in the world (Diakonia—service). These are universal goals outlined in the Bible that are not denominationally bound but bound by our faith received through Grace as followers of Jesus. In continuing to discuss universals, we come to the Word that unites us all: catholic. The Biblical Greek term for universal is the Word catholic. We are Biblically called to adhere to the Living Word of God—the Gospel of Christ Jesus and all its tenets that ground our life together in the world as Jesus’ disciples. Grace itself is also a universal tenet of the church catholic that binds us together individually on our spiritual formation journeys to be and become the disciples/ followers of Jesus that seeks and personify the glory of God for the Kingdom of God. As a united Body bound to the Living Word of God going forth in the world committed to evangelism, the universal Gospel of Christ Jesus and our Apostolic heritage is the mission of being the ‘Church’ in the world but not of the world. We are united in one Holy catholic and Apostolic faith. We are called and commissioned to spiritually grow together through Bible study, fellowship and prayer-filled action.
