Something I wrote back in 2006 and would like to share with you : Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears. Fellow Lebanese lend your country not only your ears, but your heart and soul. And if need be, give not only your blood; but the blood of your children, and their children too. This is not a call for martyrdom or to take up arms, like some local fanatics will do. This is a call for true patriotism (but not fanaticism). Break the shackles that were instilled by years of dependence on foreign influences and hereditary leadership. Strive for true freedom. Pay the ultimate price, but accept no substitute. Never settle for the lesser evil, but strive for a better future. Lebanon is yours and you are the master of your country and your own destiny. Take a firm stand, take responsibility. Revert back to your country’s past and analyze your present; then you will realize that we are still on the wrong path. Take time each day, and with one calculated and well thought action change some one of your ways every other day. Think of the impact this action will have on you, your country and the people around you. Do not flick your cigarette out of the window of your car, stop at a red light, be courteous to other drivers, refuse to pollute, care for nature and animals. And most importantly take a stand against all those who dwell in ignorance and sell their conscience to the highest bidder hiding behind the veil of necessity and fait accompli. Learn to love and spread good will, take a firm stand against those who wish you and Lebanon ill. 16/6/06
