Something challenging I need to ponder as this conversation here - TopicsExpress

Something challenging I need to ponder as this conversation here gathers momentum: I respect Starrs thinking as the best in class. Im eager to stop playing school. Im also not very naive about the momentum of the current institution(s) we are a part of. Initiating change of this magnitude is on par with a paradigm shift. Yet, I think theres a slippery slope inherent with mobilizing that lends itself to wholesale abandonment of the status quo. I want to be hesitant to get into that business here. If Im out of line suggesting that, I could use some direction. Case in point, I cant presume everyone in this group is anti-Common Core. There are plenty of other places for that. Similarly, Im not interested in bashing charters. Again, if Im in the wrong group, Im happy to pack it up and mosey along. Im extremely interested in using our frontline Intel to converse about how we evaluate our students progress and grant them passage through our K-12 system and beyond. Revising that system for one thats more effective is an entirely satisfying and purposeful mission for me right now. Thoughts?
